The SPARKS Appreciation & Tribute Luncheon brought together leaders from the Jewish community, postpartum depression community, and Congress to pay tribute to a visionary organization that helps women and families move past the heartbreak of PPD.
The event was hosted by Serving Pre-post natal women & families with Awareness, Relief and Knowledge and Support Center (SPARKS), a not for profit dedicated to helping mothers and families who are suffering from postpartum depression and premenstrual syndromes. SPARKS is based in Brooklyn, NY and operates a variety of services to assist women suffering from these issues.
The Luncheon took place in Washington, DC and worked to update SPARKS to members of Congress. It also payed tribute to distinguished honorees who have worked hard to advance the organization.
Many leaders in the House of Representatives joined the luncheon, including the Assistant Democratic leader Rep.James E. Clyburn, Rep. Shelley Berkeley, Rep. Bob Filner, Rep. Steve Cohen, Rep. Bobby Rush, Rep. Edolphus “Ed” Towns, Rep. Jerrold Nadler, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, Rep. Allyson Schwartz, Rep. Danny Davis, and Rep. Henry Waxman.
Following the luncheon, our honorees were invited to a private meeting with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) to update her on all things SPARKS.
