As of 2011, Rangel is the third-longest currently serving House member, representing the 15th Congressional District of New York, comprising East and Central Harlem, the Upper West Side, and Washington Heights/Inwood. Congressman Rangel is the former Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus and one one of most influential members in the House of Representatives.
